Camp 5 (age 5)
They creep, they crawl and play a significant role in our ecosystem! Get up close and personal with some awesome invertebrates and learn how these incredible little critters have a big job in the natural world.

Rise & Shine
Ages 6-8
​It is warming up and our cold-blooded friends are waking up! What is brumation? Where do the animals go to sleep? Spend time exploring the fascinating lives of turtles, snakes, and lizards to learn about their amazing adaptations to survive the colder weather.

Happy Hikers
Ages 8 – 11

Expand your exploration as we hike the 3-mile loop in Ancil Hoffman Park. Will we spot deer and coyote from our view on the bluff? Will fish splash by as we take a break by the river? Help us ID species for a bioblitz! Pack your snack and water in a backpack for an amazing outdoor adventure.

Bugs and Beyond
Ages 6-8

Did you know that invertebrates make up 97% of all species on Earth? These amazing little creatures are often misunderstood and overlooked. Let’s show some love to bugs and beyond by learning all about their important role in our ecosystem!

Eggstravaganza!
Ages 8-11
​
How strong is an egg? How do eggs of different species compare to one another? Learn about various animals that lay eggs through fun, hands-on eggs-periments. Meet some egg-laying critters and take a hike through the Nature Study Area—keep your eyes peeled for some of these eggs-traordinary creatures!

Woodland Critters
Ages 6-8

Take a stroll through the Nature Study Area and keep your eyes peeled for the many critters that call our oak woodland home! How many different animals can we spot and what are they doing? Find the answers yourself as we hike and explore as well as uncover each critter’s important role in our ecosystem.

Thursday, April 17th 9am-1pm
Crafty Corner
Ages 8-11

Explore your creative side! This craft workshop will keep your hands busy shaping clay, decorating wooden items and designing a necklace featuring a shell from the sea. Hike to the river and let nature and your imagination inspire your crafts! Facial masks are available to wear during sanding.

Friday, April 18th 9am-1pm
Coyote Kids
Ages 6-8
​
Channel your inner coyote as you sneak through the preserve in search of all the different animals that live here. Learn beginning tracking and observation skills and use your senses to explore the Nature Study Area. Be on the lookout for animal tracks, scat, and other clues! Keep track of your findings in your own field journal (journals provided).

Friday, April 18th 9am-1pm
Geology Rocks!
Ages 8-11

California is rich with geological history! Everywhere you look there are rocks of all different shapes and sizes. Examine the world around us like a geologist and learn about a variety of different rocks and minerals, how they are made, and how they connect to the river.
